The Vyayam is a type of dynamic yoga which is directly related to the dance, the martial art and the Hindu theatre. In its thousand-year-old origin it has been a discipline exercised as a base of the physical training by warriors and people dedicated to the dance and the theatre. We can find different references to Vyayam on classical texts such as the Malla Purana and Vyayama Dipika and other more recent such as The Yoga Tradition in the Mysore Palace. Undoubtedly, two great contemporary masters Dhirendra Brahmachari and Swami Shankara Tilakananda, belonging to the Vedic Tradition (Vaidika Dharma), have given a great boost and have rescued from darkness this exercises system which aims to the development of the body energy through the effective control of the breathing in movement. The last objective as any practice of Hatha Yoga learned in a traditional way, that is, in the relationship between master-disciple (see Hatha Yoga Pradipika) is to help the yogi in the process of controlling the fluctuations of the mind for the attainment of the samadhi state.
